Susan Marie Weber Blasts Planning Commission

Palm Desert Planning Commission will meet to vote to revoke the permit for the Ty Spa massage business located at 73-891 Highway 111.

A staff report notes city inspectors have repeatedly found people working at the business who were not licensed massage therapists.

Susan Marie Weber sees two assumptions being made by the Planning Commission. First, only those with a government-issued piece of paper can competently massage. Second, consumers are too stupid to be trusted to choose their own massage therapists.

These are the assumptions of a socialist nanny state.

In the midst of a depression, with unemployment skyrocketing, there will always be some people who want the government to protect their jobs by coercively restricting others from working and competing against them.

Licenses are a great source of income for someone behind the window at the license bureau, but they hurt workers, they keep consumers from developing keen shopping instincts, and are bad for the economy.

Caution: do you need a government license to use the products advertised below?
